Counterspindle in a slant bed CNC lathe
The FCTS 900 lathe is one of our recent projects. This high-end CNC machine is equipped with the latest SIEMENS SINUMERIK ONE control system, hydraulic steady rests, a rotating steady rest with a chuck, a dust extraction system, and a counterspindle.
The machine was designed for machining resin-coated power insulators
Thanks to the slanted bed design, the turning diameter is not limited by the carriage slide. Access to the machined workpieces becomes more efficient, and the automatic 12-station tool turret with a movable Y-axis head can move throughout the entire workspace without colliding with steady rests.
An interesting feature of this model is the counterspindle, which stabilizes the workpiece clamping, ensuring machining accuracy along the entire length of the turned shaft, and the rotating steady rest. This additionally protects the areas most exposed to unnecessary vibration.
